Founded in 1924 by Maurice Coudray, the company, which produced gyroscope-powered scientific toys under the Gyroplane brand name, produced its first construction boxes in 1928 and registered the Mécavion brand name.
Hornby drew inspiration from this for the Meccano aeroplane boxes that appeared in 1931.
Maurice Coudray ceased production in 1961.
